Lusaka province epidemics preparedness, prevention ,and control  management committee   chairperson , Chinjili Zulu,  has commended the provincial medical  health office for working tirelessly to fight the out breaks of epidemic s in the province

 Mr Chinjili  said the province had faired well in controlling the outbreaks of the diseases such as, cholera compared to the previous years.

He said that this year the  committee has put in measures to fight the out break of  diseases and prevention of floods in the prone areas.

 Mr chinjili who is also Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary said this in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka  today.

 He cited digging of drainages in Kamwala and Kanyama and the  rehabilitation of inmates dormitory at Mwembeshi prisons through the ministry of home affairs as some of efforts the Epidemics committee had put in place to curb the break out of disasters in the prone areas.

 The chairperson also revealed that the committee  will ensure the that more drainages will be excavated and water kiosks  will be constructed in cholera prone areas   in order to curb the scourge.

 Meanwhile Mr Chinjili urged  the council to intensify drainage clearing and waste management as they are in the middle of the rainy season .

 He also called on the Landlords to provide toilet facilities especially in kanyama and other cholera prone areas as this will prevent future cholera outbreaks which he attributed to lack of  hygiene.

 The Lusaka province epidemics preparedness, prevention ,control and management committee ,which is composed of some heads of district and provincial departments and chaired by the Provincial Deputy Permanent secretary looks into ways and means to control ,manage and prevent outbreak of disaster  in the province.
